This object is an example of why the Bouroullecs are great designers. Done as a collaboration between Established & Sons and Venini, the Bouroullecs chose to place emphasis on the fragile nature of the material (glass) as well as the difficulties in manufacturing this form. The shade (which varies in color from grey to amber in the series) is supported (nay, balanced) by a small aluminum piece coming off the marble base. There is a juxtaposition between the opacity and industrial manufacturing of the base and the shade. Still, the piece has almost a 360 perfect symmetry, much like its namesake.
This one is a winner.

Note: We’ve also seen this with a carrara marble base. If you are someone with impeccable taste and are pursuing this object, please give us a call and we’ll get to the bottom of this. Pun was completely and absolutely intentional.

Don’t ask how I know but I know for a fact that E & S have something to do with a new brand called: Botinger & Roi
B & R appears to be an attempt at viral marketing- and I cynically approach this comment, especially considering that this post is almost a year old and is not related to this product. Personally I have better things to waste my time on. As far as Established & Sons involvement? Come on. They should be focused on the development and maintenance of their own brand.
We need strong companies, not the development of fashionable fly by night luxury/pseudo-luxury brands. I’ve seen new companies come and go in a flash- and in this economy everything needs to be built with more durability on multiple levels. I think my clients are completely bored stiff of the majority of production at the moment and they are far smarter than this marketing ploy. I’m already turned off by this B&R, whatever, whomever they are. Shoot straight from the hip or go home. The only thing possible that I would applaud is someone making good product at reasonable pricing. Anything else is superfluous in a glut market. My other bet would be that these guys are going after the GILT marketplace, which is also hyper-saturated and limited in product selection.
