Materialize, the Belgian firm which produces 3-D product using laser technology, has entered the world of fashion, with Dutch fashion designer Iris van Herpen and her SS11 collection “Crystallization”. This 3D printed piece, created in collaboration with architect Daniel Widrig and .MGX. Two additional creations will be produced by .MGX in time for the Paris and London fashion weeks in September. The 26-year-old van Herpen, who interned under Alexander McQueen and counts Lady Gaga among her customers, was inspired by the transformation of water to crystal and combining handcrafts with new, innovative techniques. Model not included.
.MGX is excited to announce that the Fractal.MGX table by WertelOberfell-Platform now forms part of the permanent collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The table which was designed in collaboration with Matthias Bär was created using 3D printing as one single piece, without joints or seams, and derived from studies into the fractal growth patterns of trees.
