The Alessi Collaboration with ECAL

One of the wonderful things Alessi does as a company is sponsor workshops that bring interesting people together to learn, experience and collaborate. Recently Alessi introduced a series of products done in conjunction with students in the Bachelor of Industrial Design program at ECAL (The University of Art and Design Lausanne).
Graffetta Wall Hook
The workshop was held with Elric Petit, a founder of the Big Game design studio (also in Lausanne), during the winter of 2010. The workshop focused on a series of objects equally functional at professional or home office. According to Alberto Alessi, “During the workshop, a series of specific and heterogeneous proposals were developed, each dealing with the need to be hybrid in nature and re-envision the traditional workspace in an attempt to give it a more homely, friendly and personal feel.”
Fierzo Organizer/Memoboard
Overall I think they succeeded. This designs are fresh and sophisticated. There is a touch of whimsy that is very endearing. Some of the items I have seen conceptually before, however, there are a few that are very unique. I expect I’ll be adding them to my workspace shortly.
