Shroomz Art Glass Sculptures by Orfeo Quagliata
If there was ever such a thing as a purebred Bohemian artist, Orfeo Quagliata would be Best in Class example with Pedigree.
Born in 1972, Orfeo spent his childhood in San Francisco where he began working with glass at age 12 as an apprentice to his father, acclaimed glass artist Narcissus Quagliata. Early influences draw from his father’s artwork and his grandmother, Herta Jalkotzy, an award-winning jewelry designer in the Wiener Werkstätte (Vienna Workshop) collective founded by Gustav Klimt. Orfeo obtained a BFA in Industrial and Furniture Design from the California College of Arts (CCA) and trained under glass artist José Fernandez Castrillo. His present work follows an inherited tradition in glass and jewelry, and at the same time, is defined by Orfeo’s maverick style.
Mr. Quagliata has been a close family friend for over a decade. A completely genuine creative genius, Orfeo recently began a collaboration with Swarovski Crystal and is introducing a new line of Art Glass Jewelry that will be retailed in the finest retail locations next year.

Orfeo currently resides in Mexico City, where he promises me a trip to the beach and an open bar tab in payback for all of those memorable evenings we spent over the years. Keep an eye on him. He’s been doing phenomenal things for well over a decade and is finally beginning to get the acclaim he deserves.
