Elephant Wood Chair by Kristalia Wins Innovation Award
The Elephant wood chair designed by Neuland Studio (Paster & Geldmacher) for Kristalia of Italy, received international recognition with the Interior Innovation Award 2012.
Neuland Studio is a German design firm run by Eva Paster (*1971) and Michael Geldmacher (*1968). The pair met during their studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich and established their studio “Neuland Industriedesign” in the Bavarian capital in 1999.
Their shared design credo: “Products are the expression of an outlook on life. In keeping with changing values and systems, we look for new formulations. In this way, we come to re-evaluate functions and find a new aesthetic expression.”
They have designed products for numerous companies including Moorman, MDF Italia, and Kristalia. The designers have received several prizes for their work, including the Elle Deco Design Award 2006, a nomination for the Compasso D’Oro 2007, the Chicago good design award, the IF product design award, a nomination for the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany, wall paper design award 2011 and other awards.
The Interior Innovation Award is organized every year by the internationally prestigious German Design Council, which awards prizes to outstanding new products in the field of product design.
The competing products are divided into categories (furniture, bathrooms, offices, kitchens, lighting, etc) and assessed by a panel of experts in various fields.
As a winner, the Elephant wood chair will be featured at a special exhibition to be set up during IMM Cologne 2012.
The chair is available in different versions, from hard polyurethane in various colors to hide and full grain hide, with a 4-leg base, wooden legs, trestle base or slide base with a chrome or satin finish, or in the same color lacquer.
