The Epicurean Charitable Foundation of Las Vegas (ECF) hosted the organization’s 11^th annual scholarship fundraiser, M.E.N.U.S. (Mentoring & Educating Nevada’s Upcoming Students), at the M Resort Spa & Casino’s upscale Villaggio Del Sole Pool and Entertainment Piazza, Friday, Sept., 28, at 7 p.m.

The event featured food from such luminaries as Kerry Simon and Carla Pellegrino of Bratalian, as well as noshes by BarMasa, and a host of other food, wine and spirits vendors.  Highlights were Bratalian’s Penne alla Vodka and L’Atelier Robuchon’s ‘En Mousseline Au Wasabi Gelee de Pot-au-Feu aux Foie Gras’- which also gets noted as the item most likely to be mis- pronounced on a menu by an American client.  The dish was a wonderfully layered wasabi-celery cream supported by beef stew gelee and a foie gras mousse.

The $500 per person price tag insured that the event would raise a good deal of scholarship money, which it did. The lucky few got to hear the legendary group Counting Crows, led by lead singer Adam Duritz. A good time was had by all. As usual, thanks to Larry Ruvo, mucky-muck extraordinaire of Southern Wine and Spirits, one of the principal sponsors of the event, for his most generous contribution. This is one of the premier food events of the year for Las Vegans, so mark your calendar well in advance for next year’s bash.
