on: February 5, 2011, 19:01

Valentine's Day is nearly upon us, and you know you want to dazzle your significant other. What is the best plan, either in home or out, for that perfect V-Day repast. Please send us your thoughts, and tell us what you think is the most romantic way to eat in this most indulgent of cities.

An entry will be chosen by Max with the winner being presented with a bottle of champagne and two glasses, courtesy of Unicahome. If winning entry is under 21 years of age or not located in the Las Vegas Metro Area, then a gift certificate will be given. Entries will be reposted for others to read.

Ask for a private table on the patio at Milos in The Cosmopolitan! It is a very romantic space and the food is outstanding!

Well the obvious choice is the Eiffel Tower restaurant but I'll say Aureole @ Mandalay Bay

Back when my wife and I just started dating, it was a constant challenge to find time to be alone. I have two kids and my wife has three, all the kids take most of time, running them to school, soccer practice, play rehearsals and doctor’s appointments. Times that we could be alone were few and far between. When we did get time to ourselves one of the things we would do is get a bottle of champagne, nothing fancy, and some apples, cheese, and walnuts, drive out to the northwest area of Las Vegas, and find a spot that overlooked the “Strip”. We would put the tailgate down, sit on the back of my truck, and sip champagne, talk about the future and a time when our kids would be grown and we could do this whenever we wanted to, that time hasn’t come yet but it’s getting closer.

This event is on the 15th this year, and I think most Valentines I know could wait the day for this!

The Milos Feb 15th dinner looks like an excellent deal- $250 a head with pairings. Pricey, but Milos isn't known as being inexpensive. Should be a very nice intimate experience and a good chance to meet people. Only 36 seats available.

One year I tricked my husband for a fun romantic treat…

I told him that a “friend” of ours, who lives far in the depths of Summerlin was having a Cowboy themed Valentine’s eve party and we had to dress up like a cowboy and saloon girl; lies, all lies.

That evening, we got dressed up, got in the car, and I started driving towards Summerlin, up Charleston, and then kept driving...over the 215, beyond Red Rock, etc. My husband, not being from around here, was kinda oblivious as to how far out we were, but then he started questioning where we were.

Immediately, I responded that I was probably lost, and my cell phone had no signal, so we should find a place to stop and make a call. Just then we pulled in front of the “Bonnie Springs Ranch”, my secret destination! Now, if you have never been to Bonnie Springs, you should go immediately. It is an old western themed “village” with a great old saloon, with mesquite-smoked bbq restaurant, petting zoo, and “fantasy” motel.

So we pulled in and went inside the saloon, (remember we are in full western costume!!) and told him to get us a couple of drinks while I found the phone to call my “friend”. When I came back from the bathroom, I gave him a card, that I had pre-written out before we left the house. It said something along the lines of,

“You have been lied to, just so I could drag you up here to spend the night with a real cowboy!”

We had a good laugh, some stiff whiskey, some delicious bbq ribs, and then retired to our fantasy “stagecoach” themed room… Y'all don’t need to hear any more!

Here’s to the Bonnie Springs Ranch, BBQ Ribs and Romance!

A great romantic spot that works every time is the Eiffel Tower restaurant. The ambiance mixed with the best view of the strip is the perfect recipe for a relaxed and romantic night. Ask for the Griggstown Pheasant breast with risotto… is just unbelievable..
